Buying a proxy is step 1. Setting it up correctly in your anti-detect browser or phone is where most beginners fail. Misconfigured proxies leak your real IP, cause DNS mismatch, or break account verification. This guide covers tool-by-tool setup.
1. The protocol decision: HTTP/HTTPS vs SOCKS5
From the community:
"OBH has a video explaining how to set up Incogniton with IPRoyal. There's a part where he says that 'Type: HTTP/HTTPS' is fine, but I've seen some of you say that it's better if it's SOCKS5. Which should I choose?"
Short answer: SOCKS5
Why SOCKS5 preferred
- Supports more protocols (TCP + UDP).
- Generally slightly better speed.
- Handles DNS routing cleaner.
- Standard for modern anti-detect integration.
When HTTP/HTTPS is OK
- Some providers only offer HTTP.
- Browser-only use case.
- Works for most social platforms.
When SOCKS5 is mandatory
- Complex automation with multiple protocols.
- AD browser integrations that prefer SOCKS5.
- Bandwidth-conscious operations.
2. Anti-detect browser overview
Major tools
- Dolphin Anty, OFM-popular, profile-centric, strong fingerprint panel.
- Incogniton, team-friendly, profile sharing.
- AdsPower, RPA + profile, multi-account focus.
- MoreLogin, newer, broadly similar.
- Octo Browser, newer, mobile-fingerprint focus.
- GoLogin, broad support, paid tiers.
- Multilogin, enterprise, expensive.
Each has a per-profile proxy setup. Core concepts apply across tools.
3. Dolphin Anty setup
Per-profile proxy config
- Create new profile (or edit existing).
- Go to Proxy tab.
- Select Type: SOCKS5 (or HTTP if provider requires).
- Enter IP / Host, Port, Username, Password from provider.
- Click Check button, verifies IP loads.
- Save profile.
Critical additional settings
- Timezone, set to match proxy country.
- Geolocation, spoof to match proxy location.
- Language, match proxy country.
- WebRTC, enable masking.
- Canvas fingerprint, enable noise.
Common Dolphin issue
From the community:
"Proxy/anti-detect question: Running IPRoyal proxy on Anti-Dolphin. Checking fingerprint on iphey, showing Browser and Hardware as red. Anyone know how to fix this?"
Fix:
- Update Dolphin to latest version.
- In profile settings, enable "Mask fingerprint" options.
- Set canvas to "Noise" mode.
- Ensure WebGL spoofing is on.
4. Incogniton setup
Per-profile
- New profile.
- Proxy tab.
- Enter type, IP, port, creds.
- Verify via built-in check.
- Set timezone, language, geolocation.
Team features
Incogniton supports team profile sharing. Don't share profiles that contain sensitive account credentials across team members without encryption.
5. AdsPower setup
Per-profile
- Create profile.
- Network / Proxy section.
- Standard IP/port/creds input.
- Test connection.
RPA (automation) integration
AdsPower's RPA features allow automated workflows through proxy. Useful for scheduled actions at scale.
From the community:
"Anyone here using iproyal and adspower?"
→ Yes, common pairing.
6. MoreLogin setup
Similar pattern. Newer tool, generally smooth setup experience. Same core concepts apply.
7. Why proxy + AD browser must be paired
IP isolation alone isn't enough. If you run 10 accounts through 10 different proxies but all use the SAME browser fingerprint, platforms link them via fingerprint:
- Canvas fingerprint.
- WebGL signature.
- Font list.
- Installed plugins.
- Screen resolution.
- Language/timezone.
Both IP AND fingerprint must vary per account. Good AD browser + varied proxy = proper isolation.
8. The "Dolphin + IPRoyal not loading reddit" problem
From the community:
"I am using dolphin-anty browser and using static residential proxy which i bought from proxy-cheap. I can visit anything but whenever I try to visit reddit.com it's showing 'the page isn't working.'"
Diagnosis
- Reddit.com specifically blocks certain proxy ranges.
- Or DNS routing issue.
- Or protocol mismatch.
Fixes to try
- Change protocol, HTTP → SOCKS5 or vice versa.
- Clear cookies + cache in profile.
- Test proxy elsewhere, if works, issue is Reddit-proxy combo; try new IP.
- Enable DNS over proxy in browser settings.
- Switch to different proxy IP from same provider.
9. Phone proxy setup
iOS
- Shadowrocket app, most popular for SOCKS5 proxying.
- System-wide Wi-Fi proxy settings (HTTP/HTTPS only).
- Jailbroken iOS with Crane tweak, per-app proxy isolation.
Android
- ProxyDroid (rooted).
- System Wi-Fi proxy settings.
- Shadowsocks-class apps.
Setup
- Install proxy app.
- Configure proxy server (IP, port, creds).
- Enable for all traffic or specific apps.
- Test by checking whatismyipaddress.com.
From the community:
"Anyone familiar with using 'Bright Data' mobile proxy on Shadowrocket? Keep getting 'Timeout'"
Timeout causes:
- Wrong port.
- Authentication method mismatch.
- Provider-side outage.
- Shadowrocket version compatibility.
Fix: verify creds, check provider status, update app.
10. Router-level proxy
All device traffic through one proxy, no per-device config.
When worth it
- Fixed home setup serving a phone farm.
- Consistent location needed across devices.
Hardware
- GL.iNet routers, popular.
- Asus ASUS-Merlin firmware, DIY route.
Downside
- Complex setup.
- Single point of failure.
- Router-level proxy support varies by firmware.
From the community:
"Just a thought, can you open a monthly subscription with gridpanel and log in to postpone through the anti detect with the proxy and will it then post through the proxy?"
Yes, if the AD browser has the proxy configured, all browser traffic (including Postpone posting) routes through it.
11. Authentication methods
Username / password
- Most common.
- Provider gives you login creds.
- Enter in proxy config.
IP-whitelist
- Authorize your home/office IP with provider.
- Provider proxy accepts connections from whitelisted IP only.
- No creds required in browser config.
When to use which:
- Username/password, when traveling, dynamic IP, multiple locations.
- IP-whitelist, stable office/home IP, tighter security.
12. Pre-use proxy testing
Before assigning a proxy to an account:
1. Check IP loaded
- whatismyipaddress.com, confirms proxy IP is live.
2. Check DNS leak
- dnsleaktest.com, verify DNS routes through proxy, not your real ISP.
3. Check WebRTC leak
- browserleaks.com/webrtc, your real IP shouldn't appear.
4. Check fraud score
- IPQualityScore, Scamalytics, see Guide 5.
5. Check timezone match
- Browser/system timezone should match proxy location.
6. Check language
- Browser language should match proxy country expectation.
If any step fails, fix before proceeding.
13. WebRTC leak prevention
What WebRTC leaks:
- Your real IP through direct peer-to-peer connections.
- Even with proxy, WebRTC can bypass.
Prevention
- In AD browser: enable "WebRTC masking" / "WebRTC to proxy" mode.
- In vanilla browser: install WebRTC-blocking extension (less reliable).
- Test after setup at browserleaks.com.
14. DNS leak prevention
What DNS leaks:
- Your DNS queries go to your real ISP's DNS server.
- Even with proxy routing, DNS can leak.
Prevention
- In AD browser: enable "Proxy DNS" or "Route DNS through proxy."
- Verify at dnsleaktest.com.
15. Timezone and locale matching
Why matters
Platforms cross-check:
- Proxy country → expected timezone.
- Browser reported timezone → should match.
- OS timezone → should match.
- Account's reported timezone → should match.
If proxy is US Pacific and browser reports Europe timezone, that's a mismatch platforms notice.
How to match in AD browsers
- Profile timezone setting.
- Profile locale setting.
- Profile geolocation setting.
- All three should align with proxy country.
16. Cookie and session handling
Per-profile cookie isolation
Each AD browser profile should have its own cookie store. Modern AD tools do this automatically.
When changing proxy on existing profile
- Cookies may no longer match new IP's location.
- Account may log out or require re-verification.
- Clear cookies before first use with new proxy = accept re-login.
- Keep cookies = may work but watch for verification prompts.
17. Ports per proxy
Some providers offer multiple ports per IP, useful for parallel sessions:
- Port 1: account A.
- Port 2: account B.
- Port 3: account C.
Same IP, different ports = parallel access without session conflict.
Useful for VA workflows where multiple accounts need concurrent access through the proxy infrastructure.
18. Common setup mistakes
Setting proxy type to HTTP when SOCKS5 needed
Causes site-specific failures (like Reddit blocking).
Forgetting to set timezone
Biggest source of "why is my account locked" issues.
Not testing before account assignment
Leaks discovered only after account banned.
Using same profile across multiple proxies (bad)
Fingerprint persists; only IP changes; platforms see pattern.
Using same proxy for many profiles (worse)
IP doesn't isolate; accounts linked.
19. Frequently asked questions
HTTP or SOCKS5?
SOCKS5 if available. HTTP if not.
How do I verify my proxy is working?
Load whatismyipaddress.com in AD browser profile. Should show proxy IP, not your real IP.
Why are my accounts getting locked even with proxy?
Usually fingerprint / timezone / DNS leak. Check all three.
Can I use the same AD browser profile with different proxies?
Not recommended. Changing IP on a profile triggers "new location" flags.
Does changing the proxy require re-warming the account?
Usually yes, at minimum light re-warming. See Guide 10.
