Bumble Ban Types Reference: Everything That Isn't Shadowban (2026)

Account blocked, moderated, forced verification, ban waves, captcha, every Bumble ban type that isn't shadowban, their symptoms, and how to respond.

"Shadowban" gets all the attention, but Bumble has several other ban/restriction states. Knowing which you're in matters because each one has different recovery paths.

This guide is a symptom-to-diagnosis lookup for every non-shadowban restriction: "account blocked," "moderated," forced verification, captcha loops, ban waves, automatic logouts, and more.

1. "Account blocked" popup

Symptom: trying to log in shows "Your account has been blocked" or similar.

Cause: Report-based ban, or automated detection concluded high-confidence fraud.

"Hey guys, when you get a 'Account blocked' on Bumble is that a report ban?"

Usually yes. Bumble's reaction to multiple user reports is account blocking.

Recovery: appeal to Bumble support. Success rate low (~10-20%). For OFM accounts specifically, appeals rarely work because the suspected violation (commercial use) is actually accurate.

2. "Moderated" status

Symptom: account still logs in, shows "your profile is under review" or similar notice. Reduced functionality.

Cause: mid-state between SB and full ban. Bumble is evaluating your account.

"When an account gets 'moderated' on Bumble does it mean that it got shadowbanned?"

Not quite shadowban, but close. Moderated accounts often progress to either shadowban or unblock within 48 hours. Rarely, they clear back to normal.

Recovery: wait it out; don't change anything during moderation (no swipes, no bio edits, no new messages). Some accounts clear after 24-72 hours.

3. Forced verification (FV)

Symptom: account prompted to re-verify mid-session.

Cause: trust score dropped below threshold. Covered in Guide 01, Bumble verification.

"Anyone know if after you get force verification on bumble can matches still see your profile?" "Does bumble forced verification mean the account will likely get shadowbanned?"

During FV: profile is hidden from feeds. Existing matches may see a reduced state.

After passing FV: ~40-60% of accounts get shadowbanned anyway. Repeat FV = dead.

Recovery: re-verify if you can (fresh pose video, clean proxy). If the account was valuable, worth trying. If burner, just replace.

4. Captcha during signup

Symptom: captcha challenge appears during account creation, sometimes fails to load.

Cause: Bumble's bot-detection triggered on signup. IP fraud score elevated, device fingerprint suspicious, or signup velocity from this environment too high.

"Anyone who runs bumble, do u have an issue with captha today since last update?" "Is Bumble's captcha just trolling us, or did they make it this way on purpose so nobody can sign up"

When captcha loads and you solve it: ok. When it refuses to load: typically means your environment is flagged high enough that Bumble doesn't want to let you through.

Recovery: change proxy (cleaner IP), change browser fingerprint, wait 24h, try again. Sometimes just reloading works. Sometimes the environment is permanently flagged.

5. Infinite-loop verification

Symptom: verify, app accepts, then asks to verify again. Or verify submits but never resolves.

Cause: Backend processing failed, or detection flagged your verification video mid-process. Or a specific bug in Bumble's flow you can't influence.

Recovery:

  • Wait 30 min, retry.
  • Try different pose video.
  • Change proxy.
  • If all fails, retry on different method (iOS → Android or vice versa).

6. Automatic logout pattern

Symptom: app logs you out randomly without explanation.

Cause: session expired, or Bumble invalidated the session due to suspicious activity.

"anyone know why it keeps logging me out of my bumble account after a while?"

Two sub-cases:

  • Logged-out-needs-reverify: sign of account about to die. Treat as near-SB.
  • Logged-out-needs-just-relogin: session expiry. Normal on old accounts; re-login works.

Try re-login. If accepted without FV, account is fine. If FV appears on re-login, account is degrading.

7. Ban waves

Symptom: large cohort of your accounts die at once, often within 24 hours of each other.

Cause: Bumble deployed a detection update that retroactively catches your setup.

"Did anyone get hit with a ban wave on bumble?"

Characteristic of ban waves: lots of operators in your community report the same thing within a few days. Individual operator accounts don't see this; the whole OFM cohort does.

Mitigation:

  • Diversify methods (JB iOS + AppCloner + antidetect).
  • Diversify proxies.
  • Diversify FB providers.
  • Keep warm inventory buffer.

Recovery from a ban wave:

  • Wait 48-72 hours before creating new accounts.
  • Community converges on what the new detection is targeting.
  • Adjust setup.
  • Resume.

8. Phone factory-reset sufficiency

"If the Bumble account is blocked on the phone, is it enough to reset the phone to factory settings to be able to register a new Bumble account? Or do I need to change the imei?"

Factory reset sometimes works, sometimes not:

  • If the ban was account-level only: factory reset + new account usually works.
  • If the ban was device-level (Bumble flagged the phone's fingerprint): factory reset may not scrub enough. Often needs IMEI change or full device retirement.

Test by creating a test account post-reset. If that account dies fast, phone is device-flagged.

9. Report threshold, how many reports before ban?

"Anyone knows after how many reports it leads to ban on bumble?"

Not publicly documented. From observation:

  • 1-2 reports: may trigger moderation.
  • 3-5 reports: often trigger account block.
  • 10+ rapid reports: near-guaranteed account block.

Reports are quality-weighted. 10 reports from new accounts = less weight than 2 reports from veteran users.

10. Bumble support appeals

Email: [email protected] or via in-app support.

Success rates:

  • "I didn't violate" appeals: ~10% success.
  • "Technical error" appeals: ~30% success.
  • OFM/commercial-use appeals: near-zero.

Appeals take 3-14 days. Don't spam, multiple appeals decrease priority.

Frequently asked questions

What does "account blocked" mean?

Hard ban, usually report-based. Appeals rarely succeed for OFM accounts.

Is "moderated" the same as shadowban?

Close but distinct. Moderation is a mid-state; shadowban is more permanent. Moderation sometimes clears back to normal; shadowban doesn't.

Can I recover from forced verification?

Sometimes. ~40-60% of accounts get shadowbanned after passing FV anyway. Repeat FV means dead.

Why won't the captcha load for Bumble signup?

Environment flagged. Change proxy, change browser fingerprint, wait 24h.

After how many reports does Bumble ban?

3-5 typically. Report quality matters (veteran reporters weigh more).

Does a factory reset fix a phone-level Bumble ban?

Sometimes. If ban was account-only, yes. If device-flagged, factory reset may not scrub enough.

What's a Bumble ban wave?

A detection update that kills many accounts simultaneously. Wait 48-72h, diversify, then resume.

Should I appeal a Bumble ban?

Rarely worth it for OFM accounts. Appeal-success for commercial-use bans is near-zero.

Why does Bumble keep logging me out?

Either session expiry (normal) or flag-related (concerning). Re-login; if you see FV, the account is degrading.
